Chemical Peels in Danvers, MA: VI Peel and Image Peel

A chemical peel applies an acid solution that loosens the outer layers of the skin so they shed. Spalenza Spa in Danvers offers two: the Image Skincare Refresh Peel, a lighter enzyme and hydroxy-acid peel, and the VI Peel, which brings about 3 to 5 days of visible peeling.

Which peel should I book?

Book the Image Skincare Refresh Peel (from $150) for a first peel, rough texture, congestion or dry, sensitive skin, with little downtime. Book the VI Peel (from $350) for stubborn sun spots, breakouts or fine lines when you can plan around 3 to 5 days of peeling.

Tap Book to open that exact service in Spalenza’s online booking (Phorest). Prices checked Sep 2026; “from” means the final price can be higher and is confirmed at booking.

What happens during a peel appointment?

Your esthetician reviews your skin and history, picks the formula (the spa carries several Image Designer Peels and VI Peel formulas), applies it to cleansed skin and sends you home with instructions. The spa describes the VI Peel as virtually painless; a short tingle or warmth is common.

  1. Skin review

Your esthetician asks about retinoids, acne medication, allergies, cold sores, pregnancy and recent sun, and looks at your skin.

  2. Formula choice

For the Image peel: congestion, dark spots or hydration. For the VI Peel: sun spots, breakouts and scarring, or fine lines.

  3. Application

The skin is cleansed and the solution is applied. Tell your esthetician if it feels too strong.

  4. Home care

You leave with instructions. After the VI Peel, the skin flakes and peels for about 3 to 5 days; let it shed on its own and use sunscreen.

Who should not get a chemical peel?

Skip a peel if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, took isotretinoin recently, have a cold sore, rash, sunburn or open wound on the face, or are allergic to aspirin or salicylates. Darker skin tones need a careful plan to avoid dark marks. When in doubt, talk to your doctor first.

A peel may suit you if you

  • have rough texture, dullness or clogged pores
  • have sun spots or uneven tone
  • have mild breakouts
  • can stay out of strong sun and, for the VI Peel, plan around the peeling days

Do not book a peel if you

  • are pregnant or breastfeeding: book a custom facial instead
  • took isotretinoin recently or use prescription retinoids without your doctor’s approval
  • have a cold sore, rash, infection, sunburn or open wound on the face
  • have a fresh tan or a sunny trip coming up

Every skin type and tone starts with a consultation, where the peel and its strength are chosen for your skin, including a careful plan for darker skin tones. Peels are performed by owner Silvane Spalenza and the Spalenza esthetics team.

FAQ

Questions about chemical peels

How many days of peeling should I expect after a VI Peel?

About 3 to 5 days of visible flaking and peeling, according to the spa. Plan events and photos around it.

How much does a peel cost?

Image Skincare Refresh Peel from $150, VI Peel from $350. Reference prices as of Sep 2026; the final price is confirmed at booking.

Is a peel better than a HydraFacial?

They do different jobs: a peel works on texture and tone, and the VI Peel brings peeling days; a HydraFacial cleanses and hydrates with no peeling.

Which VI Peel formula will I get?

Your esthetician selects the formula during the session, based on your main concern.

How should I prepare?

Pause retinoids and exfoliating acids a few days before, avoid tanning and facial waxing, and mention any history of cold sores.

What should I do after a peel?

Do not pick flaking skin, use a gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen, and skip retinoids, scrubs and saunas until your esthetician says it is fine.

How do I book?

Tap Book next to the peel you want, or call (978) 624-7994 if you are not sure which one fits.

What is the cancellation policy?

Changes need 24 hours’ notice: a late cancellation or change is charged 50% of the service, and a missed appointment is charged in full, to the card that holds the booking.

Where is Spalenza and when is it open?

75 Newbury St, Danvers, MA 01923, in Newbury Crossing on Route 1. Monday 10–6, Tuesday 12–8, Wednesday 9–6, Thursday 12–8, Friday 9–6, Saturday 9–5, closed Sunday.
